My research field is the Internet for tourism development of Singapore. According to the widespread use of the Internet all around the world, the pattern of tourism is changing accordingly. More and more people choose the service offered by internet instead of travel agency in that the internet is more cheap and convenient. Apart from can book the tickets and certain tourist services more quickly and easily, also they are able to acquire relevant tourist information immediately by the internet. From this point, increasingly large numbers of enterprises develop their tourism business on the internet which make tourism and the internet become ideal partners. They offer the potential to make information and booking facilities available to large numbers of consumers at relatively low cost, and at the same time they can make large-scale savings on the production and distribution of print and on other traditional activities such as call centers and information centers. In additional to this, the internet provides a tool for communication and relationship development with tourism suppliers and market intermediaries, as well as end-consumers.
The first reason why I choose Singapore as my research object is that Singapore is at the heart of Asia with which I familiar correspondingly and also is a country whose tourist industry is very developed. Actually there are 7.6 million visitors per annum and it has 32,000 hotel rooms, a staggering 50% of which are 5 star. Also tourism accounts for 5% of GDP. So I think it is more meaningful to research a successful case in the development of tourism. Secondly, I have read some articles which mentioned actually the internet already have a very beneficial effect on the growth of Singaporean tourism, especially after the government began to pay attention to promote tourism of Singapore through the interment. For example, the Singapore Tourism Board has established a Singapore website which includes destination content as well as visual information about destination. Apart from that, this website is also highly functional and uses some of the latest technology to support its users, such as some chat service. From this point, we can say the government of Singapore values the power of the internet to the development of tourism industry very much. Therefore my research also will include the influence of tourism policy made by Singaporean government on its own tourism. In additional to this, I would like to find out how the normal tourism company of Singapore can make money by the internet. Be faced with the increasingly strong competition among the same industry and increase demand from consumers, the traditional agencies have to change their conservative manner of doing business, and also a lot of new entrepreneurs prepare to turn this threaten into their opportunity to create their new career. So e-business for tourism of Singapore needs to be introduced in this part.
To sum up, in my dissertation I am going to talk about the followings: the scale of tourism development in Singapore, the growth of the internet of Singapore, the interaction between both of them. In additional to this, I will also talk about the influence of tourism policy made by Singaporean government on the development of tourism in Singapore, and also the important part which I will talk about is that the E-business for Singapore tourism. What is the E-business for tourism? What is the benefit to develop E-business for tourism of Singapore? How can they make money? What is their strategy of marketing and so on

This is the first time for me to establish my own blog. Actually, I know a little about it and sometimes I also look through some of my firends. Anyway I think it is quite intersting and meaningful to share my experience of life and study in UK with people.
